As a premier soccer club offering the highest level of competition in Marin and Northern California, Marin FC offers a Spring Institute training program designed to bring your athlete’s game to the next level. The Spring Institute’s curriculum, led by professional coaches, combines small group training with core technical training to complement your athlete’s soccer training regime. The program spans two solid months (March & April) and offers a flexible schedule to accommodate other player activities and commitments. Pick the sessions that work for you. Total training is up to approximately 30 hours across 21 sessions on weekday afternoons, with small sided competitions on weekend mornings.

(Players currently registered with a competitive team for a club other than Marin FC will need permission from their club's Director of Coaching prior to participating)

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

MFC Spring Institute:  Saves & Strikes Academy

The Spring Institute schedule is specifically designed to offer 1.5 hour sessions twice a week with small-sided games on the weekend, thus allowing players with other spring sports or activities to thread together their own optimal participation plan. With 21 sessions to choose from, we encourage players to look at their schedules and choose those sessions that are the best fit for them. While the overall program is designed for athletes that want to hone their game to reach the next level, each session will focus on one element of elite sport instruction and core performance training.

This spring we will be focusing on goalkeeping and finishing. While the overall program is designed for athletes that want to hone their skills to reach the next level, each session will focus on different elements of both goal scoring and goal saving including but not limited to: 1v1’s, ball handling/striking technique, body positioning, and working on the mentality of shot taker/saver.

Team

The March through April time-frame specifically leads to the doorstep of May tryouts with Marin FC, making the Spring Institute a good way to prepare for the coming season at the club and the highest levels of competition available in Marin and Northern California.

Players looking to advance their skills and their understanding of the game will benefit from both training with and competing against like minded athletes from around the county. Training curriculum will focus on individual technical work, small group training, and game-like scenarios. Separate sessions are provided to ensure age, gender and skill appropriate challenge for all levels of players. Training and game sessions are carefully structured under the guidance of Program Director Jenya Jawad, along with other dedicated MFC coaches. This year we’re also excited to announce the participation of current Dominican University athletes from both the men’s and women’s programs.

Whether you’re aiming to improve your game, make a specific team roster, or seek to learn from current college players, Marin FC’s developmental Spring Institute offers a good developmental opportunity for any youth player.

Registration

We moved the registration process to a different platform called BYGA so things may look a bit different if you have been part of Marin FC in the past. The registration link will take you to a registration form.  Once you have submitted your information you will first be asked to verify your email.  When the email has been verified we have to MANUALLY send you an invite to activate your account.  This may take up to 48 hours, but your registration is confirmed when you get the confirmation email.  Once your accept the invitation you will be able to view the schedules etc via the BYGA app, which you can download from your favorite app store.  You can also login to the dashboard via your favorite browser on a computer or phone. The good news is that once you are verified and have accepted the invite you don't have to do it again.

Exact schedules are published in the Byga so that players have direct and up-to-date access.
