The Jefferson Cup wrapped up today with some bruises but bright smiles. The ’00 Girls Blue finish 11th out 102 teams and scored in every match against the east coast’s best and brightest. Big contributions came from all, with goals from Emlen Janetos (1), Kira Cross (2), and Lily Noto (1). The ’01 Girls Blue did just as well, finishing 19th out of their group’s 100 teams. It took a full team effort, with goals by Maddie Pero (1), Riley Johnson (1), and Callie Jones (1). Coaches Kelly Coffey and Rob Funes were equally struck by the athleticism of the east coast competition and our girls grit to compete and thrive. As an added bonus, several players enjoyed some critical post-game face time with college coaches representing over 125 schools that attended Marin FC’s games.
